The Gameroom is pretty much ready to go, and has been installed on this site as a demo.

It is a upgrade on the Casino application which introduces many new features and lays the groundwork for a better multiplayer gaming platform for your site.

New features include:

Official release date will be no later then August 4th, everything is set, I just want to spend some more time testing before making it official. Please feel free to test it out though, the more use it gets the less chance of any bugs slipping through.

Two versions will come out, a free one and a paid one, the free one will have some of the features scaled back, and likely not get additional games as they become available.

Free version will likely be shortly after the paid version, and will be released through vbulletin.org. Some of the new features won't be accessible.

This works on 3.6 and should work on anything after that as it has very little vBulletin dependencies, will eventually be available on other platforms as well and was written with that in mind.

Cost will be $45 USD, with 1-year updates, renewal amount $25 / year.

If you like you can preorder now, and get a sneak peak as well as a discount. Order before the official release and you can download early and only pay $35 USD / 13-months. Please report any bugs you encounter and watch for updates as bug fix updates will happen within a few days of the problem being found.

You can download it right away, but consider it a Beta / Release Candidate. "Official" release will be in a couple weeks.

The upside is you get a $10 discount and it is set as 13 months, rather then 12 too cover off that period before the full release.

Basically there is a setting that you feed a color value in hexadecimal, it uses that as the base for the theme.

Most likely have a optional thing you can stick somewhere, it does need a little reworking to account for multiple games and different games.

What is involved in the installation of this? In particular, is there a game, or flash server to install? I'm curious what you're using for a chess server.

Flash runs locally on the client, the backend is php / mysql. You upload the files, install the product, adjust your settings and that's about it.

I purchased this yesterday, it was real simple to install. Only took about 5 minutes. Adjusted the settings file, Uploaded the files, installed the product, ran the upgrade file which was nice that I didn't lose any of the stats from the previous casino :)

the 1 should be your userID, or any other users. So if you wanted users 3, 5, 12, & 15

It's a .php file so it does need to maintain proper syntax, so a little thing could break it. The settings will likely end up in the actual app which will add some error checking.

The language is there (on my copy, not up yet). The file is loaded, then any phrases that have been set within the app overwrite the defaults. This prevents you from having to reset things if the file changes due to a new phrase (or setting) being added.

In the mean time if you are having any problems with the settings file just let me know what you are trying to change and I can help make sure it goes through.

And here is the Bonus, you have 7-card stud in there now too. It runs with a lot of the same code as Texas Hold'em, so it should run fairly well at this point.

Same basic options, it just uses a ante system instead of blinds. Max 6 players instead of 10 (not enough cards in a deck for 10)

The language / phrases is now built into the admin tab, the file is the defaults. If you want to change anything you can do it in the admin tab, and not have to redo it if the language file gets updated. The new phrases will just be the defaults until they are changed.

It lists all active multiplayer games, as well as can send messages from inside the game to the box (like a shout box) (ex. "We need more players")

Can we completely disable the Status Box? Or, removing the Template Edit would do the Trick? It makes the Forum (or at least my Forum) very Slow. So slow, can't open it today...nobody can't. The whole Site is only loading...

Also many Users said, when they could open the Webseite, they have various conflicts with their Browsers. Slow, Mouse Cursors disappears ...

You uploaded the php and reimported the product file? It's pretty light as far as flash goes, not sure why it would cause a slow down.

btw - One thing that I had been considering is a second, straight html version. Would be static and refresh with page reloads. You would be able to use either one (lots of people don't like flash on their site unless neccessary)

Yes, the one on vb.org has some missing features.

It only allows Fixed Limit betting in the poker games, meaning all raises are of a set amount. It doesn't allow the use of stakes, which are pretty important to no-limit games IMO.

The board games can't use time control or the ranking system.

The betting component can't use fixed odds, just the pool.

The pro version sticks your logo in the lobby, to give it a little branding of your own.

The Paid version will have additional games added in as I write them, the free one is basically complete in whats going into it.

Just not there yet, the settings are really the only thing (apart from bug fixes) left before a 1.0 release. They'll be put together in a more friendly way in the end.

I would say it is unlikely, for the simple reason of processing power. If enough people are interested I could have a look at whether or not the license can be combined with this in a way that works for me, but chess AI is CPU heavy, and the average web host isn't going to agree with it.

Paid or free, doesn't make much difference, the database is the same, so if you do one then the other it won't cause any problems.

The casino can stay up if you want it too, they use seperate tables. If you want to import your numbers from the casino into this you need to leave it up until you have done that.

The table is there, but no scores are ever applied.

Are you sure? the recurring thing is not checked in the admincp, and it is not flagged on the subscriptions page. There is a little blurb bellow it that says entries flagged with a "*" are auto recurring, but it's not flagged.

What you did was the play again... the timer is supposed to be reset with the new game. I will fix that.

Very nice, downloaded the free version at VB.org and is working fine on my site. Looking forward to get the paid version if it includes more multiplayer games like Dominoes, Checkers, Conect4, etc.

Any ideas when are you gonna add this games?

I would say it is unlikely, for the simple reason of processing power. If enough people are interested I could have a look at whether or not the license can be combined with this in a way that works for me, but chess AI is CPU heavy, and the average web host isn't going to agree with it.


What about folk that have their own dedicated server?

Could a separate package for games v the computer be made to suit them :D

Unlikely I know as anyone could download it? but what if they need to prove that they are not on a shared server lol :p

I don't know about kicking ppl out of a game, but you can put a password on any of the multi-player games to allow in only those that you want to give the password to.

I can give a vague idea. Right now it is the added options, poker games do pot limit, spread and no-limit in the paid version. You can also set a buy-in and multiplier (important in no-limit games to keep it fair)

The board games add in time control and ladder rankings.

The betting adds fixed odds.

After that I do have quite a few other games I would like to add:
Backgammon
Go
Connect-4
Stratego
Checkers
5-card draw
Converting some of the solo games into multiplayer (ex Blackjack)
A tournament mode for poker will likely be one of the next things after this releases, which would let you set a start time, and payout based on who busts when, ideally capable of spanning multiple tables.

But that is all future plans, and nothing is really "set"


3.) Can the admin kick out certain people or only allow certain people in a texas hold em game?

games can be password protected, I've been playing with some ideas for more moderator functions, but haven't been happy enough with them to implement them as of yet.

One of my members suggested pinball. That might be fun for a single player game. Maybe make it cost to play and then you can win bonuses or something. I'm not sure how you would make it great tho.

Doesn't really "fit" in the way it needs to work. Which is communication with the backend and leaving it in charge of calculations and results. A pinball game needs to run on the client system because it needs to respond instantly, and once that happens the doors are open for cheating.

My goal is to focus largely on the multiplayer stuff, the "arcades" do a great job of single player flash games. But there really isn't anything for multiplayer games.

Basically a bunch of minor bug fixes and a few additions to the audio alerts in the chatrooms / multiplayer games.

Ran into an issue this evening I wanted to point out...

When playing video poker, I exited the game and went to play blackjack. While in blackjack, I went to the transfer screen and transferred some money to another forum member. When I returned to the blackjack room, it didn't show that I had transferred any money. After leaving the gameroom and returning, all was normal.

Also, while playing blackjack I ended up with a zero balance. I went to the admin page, bulked up my account, and then returned to the blackjack room. Upon returning, my balance again didn't update and I wasn't able to place any bets as I still had a zero balance. Exiting the gameroom and returning again took care of the problem.

Is there a way to refresh the balance every time you return to a game/room? Not that it's a huge deal to exit and return, it's just a little inconvenient.

With that said, this module is absolutely fantastic and I will be getting my preorder in by tomorrow night. You've got a nice thing here. If I may... a couple suggestions?

1) One unexpected benefit of the Gameroom was the Lobby chatroom. This is something we'd been planning on adding for some time but just never got around to it. Since you already have the Lobby, how difficult would it be to make private chat rooms as well?

2) On some of the games, like slots, would it be possible to put payouts on the game screen instead of the help screen?

3) Any plans to add a Craps game? That would be totally cool. This way we can pass the dice, take odds on the line, and play the marker. I know that's considerably more difficult to handle in coding than poker so I won't be too disappointed if you don't plan to do it.

4) Multiplayer Roulette? Multiplayer Blackjack?

Well, that is what happens when you create a game, you get a private chat room with a game attached. Without a game attached you can't do right now, but the pieces are mostly their, so maybe at some point I'll implement a interface to do so.

Yes, just hasn't been much of a priority. It is in the list of things to do today though.

Multiplayer Blackjack, possibly the others as well, is something I am looking at. Where it will fit in the order of things getting done is up in the air though.
