What additional features or improvements does the premium/paid version have? I couldn't find a better place to ask this than in the announcement thread...

Basically more options on the games.

In the free version you only get fixed bets in poker (every raise is a fixed amount) with the paid one you can also use pot limit, spread limit and no limit.

You can also set a buy in / stake.

So a game has a buy in of 100, with a x100 multiplier means everyone comes in for 100 and starts the game with 10,000

The board games add time control, blitz, standard and increment rules are available, all of which can use whatever values you like. You also have the option of ladder ranks using the ELO system (from Chess)

The betting module in the free version is just a pool, whatever goes in is divided amongst the winners. The paid one lets you set fixed odds.

Most of the additions that will go in in the future are only going to go into the paid version. (ex. New games, tournament modes, etc)

The branding is different, in the free one you have a vbgaming.org line in the footer, in the paid one that is gone and you can put your logo in the bottom corner of the lobby.

Ok thank you very much. And do you foresee any more games being added in the near future?

If I want to change "gameroom.php" to "casino.php" is all I have to do is rename the gameroom.php file?

yup, got plans for quite a few more.

Could you possibly give some kind of timescale for roll out of new additions (one year passes by awful quick when you've paid for a script and are stuck waiting for updates), examples of planned additions and the likes please.

I'm sure your already very aware, but we are in the middle of the worst global recession for some decades at the moment, so as i'm sure you can appreciate, the pricing you are suggesting is at the absolute maximum level of what I would even consider paying for any script, even more so with it being a recurring fee and therefore before I actually go ahead and commit my money to this project and purchasing the script, I want to know that I am going to actually get good value for money and that this is not just going to be the same as so many other scripts, which essentially release a version, promise the world, but then go into melt down very quickly, claiming to have external life issues that mean they can't carry on doing anything any more and that they are suddenly making the scripts free for everyone else, meaning those that paid, have essentially got a bum deal, yeah I know it sounds a little bitter, but it has happened more than once over the years.

I also need to know that I could simply replace the old casino directly with this and like steve19083 above, that the gamesroom would be easily made to work on the casino.php and if so, how? Because as it is essentially the same product, I would want it to be seen as a major upgrade on my site and not just a sideways move with a new product, that essentially does the exact same thing, but with a new url.

Not very reassuring, when an initial request for some clarification before handing cash over, isn't even responded to...

no, everything fires through that file, renaming it would break things.

Solid dates in software development never work out. I can't give you more then a month or so in advance, and even then, sometimes its not going to be accurate.

So here is about the best I can do, which is a guess, and could very easily change.

Since the 1.0 release Four-in-a-Row has been added, that was a week ago. Checkers is pretty much complete and will definately hit the download within a few weeks, if not sooner.

Sit-n-go tournaments are being developed now as well, which again will be within a few weeks.

Those 2 things will likely get packaged up with one other board game, most likely Go or Backgammon, into a 1.1 release that I want to have out for Labour day.

I'm sure your already very aware, but we are in the middle of the worst global recession for some decades at the moment, so as i'm sure you can appreciate, the pricing you are suggesting is at the absolute maximum level of what I would even consider paying for any script, even more so with it being a recurring fee

Well, if nothing new that interests you is being added a year from now you are more then welcome to keep what you have paid for and not upgrade beyond that.

I think that given the time required to do something like this, and the pricing of similar plugins that support multiplayer poker / board games my fee is quite reasonable.

I also need to know that I could simply replace the old casino directly with this and like steve19083 above, that the gamesroom would be easily made to work on the casino.php and if so, how? It's not the same product, it reuses some of the old code, but it is a completely separate piece. Your stats and cash can be transfered over, but the two run completely independent of each other.

The free version is fairly comparable to the Casino in features, with the addition of Chess and Reversi. The paid one adds on to that.

Not very reassuring, when an initial request for some clarification before handing cash over, isn't even responded to...

Sorry, I missed it.

Sorry, I missed it.

That's ok, sorry to sound so abrupt, just had some bad experiences with paying for premium vbulletin addons before, so don't go into these things without absolute clarity any more.

Feeling very reassured by what you've said, will look into making the purchase in the next few days. :)

As far as pricing for scripts and Andrews responses, both have been extremely reasonable. I don't think I've waited more than a couple hours for a response to any of the (admittedly few) questions I've had. I also think that for the amount of code involved in this type of script, I was quite happy with the cost.

I, too, hope that this continues to be a solid organization and that Andrew continues to pump out updates and modules for all of the less-than-technically-savvy folks. The thing to keep in mind is that if we don't support Andrew by paying for the script, then it will surely go toe-up and all this will be a waste. As a software engineer myself, I understand the value of getting paid for software development, even a few bucks at a time.

Take care.
